Scant offerings: This was done last night in Santa Clarita. Not the best I've done, but the model did not show up and Olga graciously stepped in to model.

These were all done at Disney in Bob Kato's class on Fridays. I have never painted the model from life with acrylic before and I had not done a class in nearly 7 years. About 20-25 minutes each.

2nd portrait of Corrine. I've made better decisions using the filberts and brights and am getting better at organizing my brushstrokes.

Corrine as Ann Boleyn

About a month ago, I was asked to help put together an Ann Boleyn costume for Corrine. It was quite a challenge, because I had only 48 hours to do so, running to Joann's Fabrics, finding whatever was available, doing research online. It's a good thing I had seen The Other Boleyn sister last year. But as I was putting on the final brushstrokes for her face, I realized I had painted not Corrine, but her Mom, one of my dearest friends, Lisa, the way she looked nearly 20 + years ago when we were in college.

Some new updates on some paintings and some new. The oriental soldier is not done yet. I have been working on him during lunch at work. Same as the blond warrior with the armor. Been doing a little freelance at night after work; been very tired.

Update: After dinner painting. Will work on hair next.

I'm almost done with the girl with the blue hair. All I have to do is finish the background color and I can do that at work. I'm really getting better with the glazing on skin tones-a HUGE breakthrough! The other is an underpainting and I just did this much in about 15 minutes. If you saw me painting, literally I must have looked like a cartoon; paint flying around in a blur!

Color Pallette (This is for my info because I probably will not be able to finish this one tonight): Flesh: Diox purple, umber, raw sienna, touch of cad orange hue for warmer flesh. Hair: Deep Magenta, diox purple, cad red med.

No freelance, no costume to work on; a small gap in time to do some painting this weekend. I think my super powers come alive in the fall and during rainstorms. This is a real sweet little piece. Approaching a buttery quality that I seek; not seen in this scan.

WORKING ON

Roughly 5 inch by 5 inch, Acrylic on canvas paper at home during the rain storm.

I used to have many warm colors on my palette. Of late, I've been really having fun with the cool colors. Now as I look at the colors I've laid out, I have many more cool colors than the warm earth colors.

The indian with torso came out just okay. I love the colors I used but the face looks retarded. So I did a quick color sketch (small portrait) and wouldn't you know, that one looks better. I overworked the face on the first one and probably ruined the surface so it was harder; it was just too small; or I just need more practice. These are small; the Indian face maybe 2 x 3in; the other a little bigger than photo size.

These were done during my lunch break.
